CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) released Tuesday from detention the man who spent 43 hours on top of one of the towers of the Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge last week.

However, he will still face the charges filed against him.

Jecy Mollena, 20, a native of Don Carlos, Bukidnon was released past 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.

Mollena will face alarm and scandal and illegal possession of deadly weapons charges filed by the police.

Police said the release order for Mollena was signed by Presiding Judge Allan Francisco Garciano of the 7th Judicial Region Lapu-Lapu City.

The release order of Mollena states that, "accused is ordered to be immediately released from police custody without posting bail bond considering that the case falls under the revised rule of summary procedure."

The court also directed Mollena to submit a counter affidavit to be submitted to its office within 10 days from the date of his release order.

His first arraignment will be on February 23 at 8:30 in the morning.

Aside from the charges filed by the police, the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) filed a case of special malicious mischief against Mollena through its legal officer, Agustino Hermoso. - THE FREEMAN
