Stray bullet kills man

CEBU, Philippines - A 21-year-old man from barangay Tabok of Mandaue City was killed by a stray bullet while eating with friends along P. Basubas Street in the same city yesterday dawn.

Investigators of Station 2 in barangay Subangdaku identified the victim as Loter Macasero who resides in sitio Kamanggahan.

Macasero was taken to Cortes General Hospital in Mandaue City, but attending physicians at the Cortes General Hospital pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Police said Macasero and some friends stopped by for a midnight snack at an eatery at P. Basubas Street in barangay Tipolo.

Minutes later, they heard gunshots nearby and found Macasero with a wound on his head.

It was not clear who fired the shots but police are investigating the incident.

The victim's body now lies at a local funeral home in Mandaue City. — THE FREEMAN
