6 Iloilo doctors test positive for COVID
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Six doctors in Iloilo province have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Five of the cases were recorded in Iloilo City.
The doctors underwent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction or RT- PCR test.
The results were received by Treñas yesterday.
“I have coordinated with the hospital where the doctors are working. I was told that all necessary protocols are being done to ensure safety of everyone,” Treñas said.
In a post on Facebook, Treñas appealed to the public to observe health protocols.
Also yesterday, Western Visayas recorded 26 new COVID-19 cases including the six doctors.
The figure, the highest posted in a day, brought to 274 the total number of confirmed cases in the region.
