Sheer, billowy fabrics add a layer of romance to Snidel and Fray ID’s DNA of refined elegance.

Holiday dressing typically translates to glitzy golden tinsel minis or chunky “ugly” sweaters in Yuletide reds and greens just like Santa and Rudolph — but not at Snidel and Fray ID. The two Japanese brands leading a subdued approach to feminine womenswear from Ginza propose going the other way.

At The Dazzle in Holiday Style event in its Philippine home, Mitsukoshi Mall in BGC, cooler color temperatures and refined prints and luxurious textile finishes shine.

Youthful Snidel is all about balancing femininity with utility. Their Snow Magic Holiday collection plays with layers. Seasonless slip dresses are extra special in lustrous velour, shiny like a layer of first snow, and frocks in layers of tulle and lace covered with embroidered flowers, scattered like the first snowfall, are toughened up with chunky knits or knee-high boots.

Host and STAR columnist Stephanie Zubiri’s presence is the present in an LBD with an oversized bow.

The more grown up, ultra-feminine Fray ID is all about giving you confidence for that “First Party In A While.” The collection makes one-step dressing a breeze while a unified palette of intricate prints and lace makes it easy to mix and match. Bolder silhouettes of big puff sleeves and even bigger skirts go even more romantic with oversize bows and dainty Mary Jane shoes.
