Change is in the hair
Heart Evangelista has power over damage — from change to criticism and heat hairstyling.
A woman who cuts her hair changes her life, and for actress-turned-global fashion figure Heart Evangelista, that means she’s in her “New hair, new era.”
Change isn’t easy. Heart has not slept a wink since her flight back from Paris Haute Couture Week, doing multiple outfit changes a day as she shines her superstar light on wearable masterpieces by ateliers like Schiaparelli and Elie Saab. Yet with this career change and fame that spans time zones comes a dark shadow of intrigue and criticism of her personal life. You wouldn’t have known this from her radiance during the launch of the new Cream Silk Salon Daily Treatments line at Koop Studio in BGC.
How does she power through it all? “I've gotten damaged many, many times. A few months ago, I was at my most damaged but that’s all part of the process,” she tells YStyle. “You might feel defeated because of change. There were many problems that I didn’t think I could get over. But because of that, I learned to treasure myself and put my foot down and say no to things I don't want to do. I’m stronger and empowered now.”
Heart insists that what appears effortless “takes a village.” Her biggest supporter? “My husband has stepped up a thousand times and more. Because of that, I feel very supported and I feel like a better person. I am very thankful for where I am with my husband and in my life now.”
Creamsilk is one of her longest supporters. Heart has been a Creamsilk ambassador since she was 19, representing the ever-evolving lineup of conditioners from its prime advertisements to its very bottles to this day. “Creamsilk innovates with different individuals' hair types and embraces a person's life changes,” she says. “Creamsilk supports modern women.”
“I do a lot to my hair when I travel and I do my own hair,” she says. She uses Dyson’s Airwrap for easy ‘dos like the Pageboy to transform her bob. “This trip, I did everything — gel, heat, everything. And when you’re doing it on your own, you overheat it just to keep it curl,” she shares.
The Keratin Damage Repair variant keeps it healthy and supple during her back-to-back fashion week appearances to protect her hair from styling damage. “I leave it on overnight and wrap a towel over it. When I’m not working, I do it every two to three days.”
Heart offers this encouragement to women: “Explore. It is not a sin to discover new things about yourself.”
