Patty Ang x Bench: Elegance, grace and simplicity
MANILA, Philippines — I chose to work with corduroy because I have always been fascinated by its versatility as a fabric. I have always wanted to experiment more on it and I saw this as the perfect opportunity.
Elegance, for me, is the perfect mixture of grace, simplicity and modesty.
The modern woman is a confident, round-the-clock woman who remains classy, elegant and fun.
My favorite part about collaborating with Bench is the mark that our brand and pieces will impart to the people.
I always look forward to the new clientele that we will reach in every collaboration that I do and the impression that our brand will leave with them.
This collaboration is different from what I usually come up with because I had to take into consideration that we are working with Bench; of course we would want to exceed their expectations. We also took into account that Bench’s market is relatively different from ours, which is why we had to adjust accordingly to appeal to them effectively.
I see this collection being worn to work, certain social gatherings and of course, during travels.
My clean and minimalist aesthetic remains in this collection although this was something new for me.
Fresh. That’s what the color palette of this collection is all about.
The challenges in coming up with this collaboration were heavily focused on the new market that I was tasked to target. As a designer, it has always been my goal to provide my clientele the best pieces they could ever ask for. Because of this mindset, I had to make sure to enthuse the market perfectly.
My design process is rather simple. I draw inspiration from my travels, the people I see, and the culture that I get to observe. After that, I start sketching and before I know it, I start making the pieces or the collection.
