Francine Gacrama - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - In today’s “Look of the Week” we encourage you to direct your attention to Proenza Schouler’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection and to take a closer look at an ensemble that could potentially add a certain level of refinement to your wardrobe.

Held at the Whitney Museum’s new downtown Manhattan location, the collection presents a certain sensuality that comes in the form of ribbed knit dresses, criss-crossing straps and triangular silhouettes. Inspired by the idea of control and release and citing Frank Stella, an American painter and printmaker, as their influence, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez experimented with different cuts and played around with a number of silhouettes that were visually compelling. The color palette proved to be muted tones with slight hints of rust and a pop of yellow to liven up the lineup. The result? A collection that’s versatile and downright functional.

Team YStyle has spoken. Give yourself that upgrade or at least be inspired by Proenza Schouler’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection for a polished new look. Cheers to a new you.

CALENDAR: Bell’INVITO desk calendar

Nothing spells class like a calendar that’s been dipped in gold.

Forget the fact that each page is in letterpress printing and engraved in gold, this luxe calendar is the perfect way to keep things in check. The edges are beveled in gold and it comes with a brass stand to go along with the gilded theme.

HAIR: Roberto Cavalli Spring 2016

Change up your everyday look with a hairstyle straight off Roberto Cavalli’s spring 2016 runway.

Hairstylist Guido Palau was inspired by the ‘80s when girls started experimenting with their sexuality and wanted a touch of a boy’s quiff. The look started out with a deep side part that was soon blow-dried straight in the back. A peak in front gave shape to the look and was set with Redken Guts gel to hold everything in place.

PERFUME: Memo Paris Marfa

Switch out last season’s purchase with a fragrance that’s desert-inspired. Think enticing notes that’ll leave you feeling and smelling sensual.

Just made available this month, the Memo Paris Marfa scent carries notes of orange blossom, tuberose, iris, sandalwood, cedar and white musk that’ll transport you into the artistic spirit of Marfa, Texas. Owner Clara Molloy was inspired by her trip to the high desert plains of far West Texas which is rich in contemporary and minimalist art.  Apart from the scent, the bottle itself is a complete scene-stealer and a must-have for your vanity.

PENCIL: Graf Von Faber Castell Perfect Pencil

If writing with a pen is too much of a commitment for you then maybe this pencil can be the cure to all your problems.

Elegant in shape and form, the ribbed surfaced pencil isn’t called a “perfect pencil” for nothing. The premium pencil is extended with an integrated sharpener (which also serves as a protective cap) and a multi-part spring-clip. Made from Californian cedar wood, the platinum- or sterling silver- plated pencil also comes with a replaceable eraser so you don’t have to worry about using it all up.

TECHNOLOGY: Gucci Supreme Tian Case

If you have any kind of anxiety about dropping your phone, you need a case.
Skip the Otterbox this time around and go for a more stylish and slim canvas case by Gucci. The contemporary floral motif case features designs from 18th century Chinese tapestries and screens. The floral pattern’s accompanied by a variety of insects and birds finished with a light and quick brushstroke style. Cop this phone case, stat: it’s a step closer to owning that Dionysus bag.

DESK ACCESSORY: Timeless Hourglass

Give your desk that added character with Secondome’s limited-edition Timeless hourglass.

The elegantly shaped item is crafted of clear mouth-blown glass that rests on a brass base. The sand was switched out with iron fillings to create a spatial crystalline structure as it trickles through the vial.

SKINCARE: May Lindstrom Skin The Clean Dirt Cleansing Clay

Life after microbeads does exist and we’ve found the perfect replacement for you.

This super-fine powder is a brightening exfoliant treatment that could be mixed with pretty much anything. When mixed with water it takes on a pasty consistency, making it a gentle clay scrub. Honey turns it into an antibacterial scrub while adding yogurt can make it into a soothing mask. The scrub encourages cellular rejuvenation whilst keaving your skin velvety smooth and radiant.

ACCESSORY: Jennifer Fisher Cylinder Cuff

High-shine ahead.

Keep your jewelry simple with this Jennifer Fisher Cylinder Cuff that’s equal parts polished and easy. We recommend your cuff to be worn on a bare wrist to highlight the minimalist accessory. Layer over another cuff if you’re feeling gutsy; just keep in mind though that you don’t want your jewelry to be too distracting.

BAG: Fendi Peekaboo

There isn’t a need to pack light when you have a bag that can store all of your secrets.

The Fendi Peekaboo is bold in scale and rich in character with its revamped look. The woven detail is laced up in genuine snakeskin and comes with dual interior compartments. The soft calfskin leather exterior includes a slender rolled-top handle and an understated hardware to complement the bag’s silhouette.

BEAUTY: Dior Spring 2016

Luminous skin is all the rage this season so give your skin that boost without being too greasy or shiny.

Makeup artist Peter Philips prepped the skin with Dior Hydralife Serum Sorbet which is compatible with all skin types. Then apply a thin layer of the Diorskin Star Foundation to even out your complexion and to add radiance to your face. Dust the Diorskin Nude Glowing Gardens Pink Palette just over the cheekbones for a soft glow. Add a hint of color to the lids with a pastel pink shade from the 5 Couleurs Glowing Gardens Palette and finish everything off with a dark brown or plum mascara for a natural finish.
