MANILA, Philippines - Painterly strokes for the environmentally-conscious folk—for the sixth year of H&M’s Conscious collection, sustainability takes the form of gloss and embellishment, from rhinestones made of recycled glass and Denimite, made from denim infused with metal. Organic silk, hemp and cotton lend themselves as canvases for red carpet-ready looks: ball gowns, embroidered trousers and metallic mini dresses, juxtaposed against their more delicate selections: sheer dresses, lace skirts and satin slippers. Culling some of their prints from Gustave Moreau’s paintings taken from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris’s Palais de Louvre, H&M’s sleek interpretations are life imitating art.
