The New Radicals
All That Glitters
MANILA, Philippines - Shine on this fall as glittery beauty goes, grows and glows. Cases in point: Multicolored MAC glitters are pinky-dotted around the eyes at Rosie Assoulin to childlike effect while blurs of silver holographic sparkles that either run along the curve of the brow or the cheekbone give dewy faces at Opening Ceremony a futuristic jolt. Over at Tome, sparkling rhinestone teardrops glued below the lower lash line served as tiny accents to an otherwise clean visage.
Hot Fuzz
There’s nothing new with donning fur for fall but Libertine gives it a mighty kooky twist by turning them from fluffy coats to, well, fluffy nail polish coats. Want to cop the look? Before dressing your tips in faux fur, paint nails with neutral-hued lacquer and seal with high-gloss topcoat for extra shine. It might be impractical but hey, we’re not bluffing when we say that this statement nail art will definitely give you the warm fuzzies.
Graphic Gaze
Lined eyes get a major overhaul as the industry’s top makeup artists get creative with their trusty black liners. Take a closer look —Dick Page gets painterly with free-floating liner applied on the lids at Narciso Rodriguez, Tom Pecheux gets sketchy with Picasso-inspired streaks drawn around the eyes at Altuzarra, and François Nars goes all-out on the theatrics with six bold variations of sooty smudges and graphic outlines at Marc Jacobs.
Going Goth
At NYFW, beauty finds itself under the influence — of the gothic persuasion, that is. From plum-stained puckers and pallid complexions at Rodarte to matte-noir pouts and slick, ivory-painted manes at Fenty x Puma, it’s clear that the season’s strongest looks are out to give some serious lip. Which should come as no surprise, really. After all, when it comes to goth girl-inspired looks, nothing goes better with an ultra-dark lippie than the toughest of ‘tudes.
Pony Tales
This season, the traditional pony is anything but. While windswept tresses are finger-raked at Prabal Gurung to give rolled-end ponytails a disheveled finish, the swinging style takes a sleeker approach at Victoria Beckham as wet-look locks are slicked back, secured at the nape, and spritzed with generous amounts of hairspray. Wrapping things up is Suno’s velveteen version, where super-straight strands are tied low and crisscrossed with silk-velvet ribbons.
