But because of the nature of the fire, people will generally be quick to react and be impulsive, making sudden outbursts,” Princesse Lim Fernandez of Yin and Yang Shop of Harmony summarizes the overall mood of the new lunar year. “A tip for everyone is to not overanalyze a situation and take a step back before reacting or making decisions.”

If you’ve observed a trend of people leaving jobs in the past month, Fernandez explains it’s because of the Winter Solstice last Dec. 20, when the energy of the monkey started to come in: “People were reacting immediately, leading to misunderstanding, words being said that cannot be taken back.”

Fernandez has a few words of caution: “Your (birth) year only plays a part in how your luck turns out. Not everyone will have the same luck, not everyone has the same path because your zodiac according to your year doesn’t give the complete picture,” she says, citing your birth month and day as well as the feng shui of your living and working spaces which all play a part in how your year pans out.

She finally assures, “The gift of knowing is so you can emotionally and mentally prepare for it, whether it’s change or movement, so you can embrace it instead of resisting it.” That being said, here’s what’s in store for you for 2016 — and some beauty finds for more auspicious times!

Rat
