MANILA, Philippines – Here at YStyle, we’re always keeping an eye out for the emerging trends straight from the runway and this week’s look is from one of the great American storytellers of New York fashion — Michael Kors.
If his cleaned-up collection is any indication, the somewhat airy but polished look has become one of the highlights this season. Inspired by a medley of women like “Mother of American Modernism” Georgia O’Keeffe and jewelry designer Elsa Peretti, the collection’s feminine pieces were the ones that stole the show. 3-D petals were embroidered on coats and dresses while 2-D flowers were printed on fabrics such as georgette and silk chiffon. On the other end of the spectrum, the collection presented androgynous pieces that reflect Peretti’s style. Considered one of his strongest looks, Kors is definitely on the right path and is on a roll with his most recent collections.
This week’s look of the week is a crimson washed-faille dress with a plunging neckline that will have you feeling confident on and off the runway. An ode to each and every woman’s inner Latina, this look will bring out the fiery femme fatale in you.

MUSEUM: Frida Kahlo Museum
Also known as The Blue House, the historic house museum is dedicated to the life and work of one of Mexico’s greatest artists, Frida Kahlo.
Known throughout the world, Kahlo is famous for her paintings that celebrate indigenous and national tradition, mixed with surreal, personal motifs. Her more famous pieces are self-portraits that symbolize her own pain and sexuality. The cobalt blue museum was the family home of Frida and has since been converted into a gallery that’s geared toward showcasing and commemorating her life. This was the same home where communist Leon Trotsky and his wife took refuge after they were exiled from the Soviet Union.
Kahlo’s collection includes personal art pieces, cookware, linens and personal souvenirs such as photographs and letters. A private museum, this gallery is a must for any Frida or art lover.
