RIHANNA wears JEWELMER
MANILA, Philippines - Jewelmer is making its name in Hollywood for 2015. From the glossy pages of magazines and on the red carpet, the brand is slowly grabbing the attention of celebrities all over Tinseltown. We saw it first on Taylor Swift in the 2014 Woman of the Year issue of Billboard magazine and more recently on the FourFiveSeconds artist Rihanna during her appearance on Good Morning America. Dressed to the nines in no less than Chanel, Rihanna matches her polished-up look (a far cry from her usual style) with pearl studs by Jewelmer. From the shores of Manila to Lalaland, there’s only one way but up for this luxury brand.
TOM FORD'S NEW FILM
The wait is over! For those of you who adored Colin Firth in his Oscar-nominated role for A Single Man, Tom Ford has just revealed that he has plans to shoot his second movie later this year. His first film success came with A Single Man, a drama about an English professor (Firth), unable to cope with his day-to-day life due to the sudden death of his boyfriend, set in Los Angeles of the 1960s.
If the success of his directorial debut is anything to go by, we can be certain that his next feature will definitely be something to look out for. Ford is currently in the middle of casting and is set to shoot in the fall. “I have a business and I have a son and I promised myself I would wait till he’s three to make a new movie. Well, he’s turning three in the fall,” said Ford.
His show last Friday was jam-packed with VIPs and celebrity A-listers, from Julianne Moore, who also starred in A Single Man, Gwyneth Paltrow Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Elton John. Ford made a bold move to shift his show from London to Los Angeles one day after the Oscars. The designer said that this was a no-brainer decision as his show in London would have fallen on the same morning of the Oscars. This didn’t make sense to Ford as the brand would have had to compete with all the global press. “I’m a California resident, I have a house here, I’m usually in Los Angeles this week dressing someone for the Oscars, so I thought why don’t I just show in LA?” said the designer.
DIOR & I
With April 10 just around the corner, the documentary Dior and I will finally be released for viewing. Although a year late for its initial release date, Dior and I gives us a peek backstage to the production of Raf Simons’ very first haute couture collection in 2012 as its newly appointed creative director. The film revolves around the pressures of fashion and glimpses into the brand’s history while paying homage to the seamstresses who bring Simons’ vision to life.
If April is still a long wait for you, head on over to Refinery29 as they give us a glimpse of the Dior spring 2015 couture line and the process that a dress goes through (in this case 200 hours) from a piece of fabric to its electric pleating glory.
