Wabisabi fall 2014 collection
MANILA, Philippines - If you’re not the tote-carrying type of girl then you’re in for a treat. Wabisabi just launched their latest fall 2014 collection and it’s quiche. Who doesn’t love a leather sling bag? We know we do. The collection is available in brown and black, so think of the endless possibilities you could pair these bags with. Made of genuine leather, you’ll be surprised to know that these numbers are on the affordable side. So we hope to see at least one of these bags wrapped neatly under our Christmas tree.
Francis Libiran for Havaianas
Eleven years since it arrived on our shores, Havaianas still remains the most popular flip-flop brand in the country. They have been known to collaborate with international designers like Sass & Bide, Missoni and the most recent, Valentino. With almost a year kept under wraps, Havaianas finally revealed their next collaboration with Filipino fashion designer Francis Libiran.
Filipino and festive- — these were the elements that inspired Francis Libiran to design his very own collaboration with the Brazilian brand. The collection features three designs namely: the City, Festival, and Island. Each pair evokes the culture and vibrancy of the Philippines, making it the perfect pair to own this festive season!
Take your pick because the collection will be available nationwide on Dec. 1 till February.
Blue Carreon home at Bergdorf Goodman
If you’ve ever stepped inside Blue Carreon Home in Century City Mall then you’re probably one of the few too many that have drooled over the collection that they have on display. If not, let me paint a picture for you -— think gold accents, eclectic and modern home furnishings and exceptionally curated pieces. Basically items you wish you could dress your dream home in.
Blue Carreon just launched a new book entitled Conversations and his home accessories brand is now available at Bergdorf Goodman in New York. The former editor turned home accessories designer Blue Carreon is a man of exquisite taste and talent and we ask him to tell us a thing or two about how all this came to be.
YSTYLE: Can you tell us how all of this happened?
BLUE CARREON: How it all came together was a synchronicity of timing, luck, guts, hard work and perhaps a dash of talent. I approached the head buyer for the home department last September about stocking my book at Bergdorf’s. After flipping through the pages and seeing that several of the personalities in the book are Bergdorf Goodman designers, they placed an order. After we finished discussing the book, I summoned enough courage to ask them if I could show them my home line -- — though it wasn’t on our agenda. Unbeknownst to them, I had my line sheets and samples in my bag. I knew I had to take the chance because it’s difficult to get a face-to-face meeting with Bergdorf’s buyers. The head of the department called in his other buyers and they looked through my line sheets and samples and liked what they saw and placed an order. I left the meeting completely thrilled because it’s everyone’s dream to be at Bergdorf Goodman. And now my pieces are displayed at the store!
Tell us about your book launch.
Jonathan Adler hosted my book launch at his Greenwich Avenue store in New York last Nov. 4. It was quite a successful party attended by Jonathan Adler, grande dame of interior design Charlotte Moss, Kent & Curwen designer Simon Spurr, J.Crew’s womenswear designer Tom Mara, Peter Som, Rafe New York and photographer Sophie Elgort plus my dearest and closest friends in New York.
A couple of days after my book launch, Bergdorf Goodman displayed my book Conversations on their home floor. And the next day, they displayed my pieces from my home line Blue Carreon Home. It was a thrilling experience to see something I created and designed and that bears my name on the floor of Bergdorf Goodman, which is really the best store in the world.
