Define your aesthetic at the moment: I think I have a lot of appreciation for different aesthetics; it boils down to how they are used/worn. Non-fashion inspirations: Fictional stories and characters, architecture, sculpture, food, animals and nature. Basically, if anything gets my attention for more than two minutes, I’m sold and inspired.
How do you see yourself five years from now? Right now, I work in a very different field from fashion, and the reason for that is that I want to study brand management in Italy. Every step I’m taking is towards one goal, which is to build a fashion empire, so in five years, I want to have finished that course, invested in research and development, and of course, found potential investors besides myself!

Pia Gajasan 28, Fashion Institute of the Philippines
Define your aesthetic at the moment: I’m really partial to streamlined silhouettes with tailored finishings. I try to balance that by injecting a sense of ease in the designs though, mixing in some sporty and grungy elements to create a casually undone vibe. That even extends to my fabric choices. I tend to mix luxe fabrics like leather, suede and silk with more unconventional ones like rubberized knits and dry-fit fabrics.
Non-fashion inspirations: Traveling really helps me when looking for inspiration. It helps set the right frame of mind since I’m exploring new things and are more open to external triggers. It doesn’t even have to be to some expensive getaway. I would sometimes take a new route going home, see interesting graffiti or a weird building, and get ideas for silhouettes or techniques from that.
How do you see yourself five years from now? Right now, I’m still trying to find a solid, consistent perspective to build a brand on. But it would be the height of awesome if I could continue making one-of-a-kind couture pieces and have a ready-to-wear sportswear line as well in five years’ time.
Who do you design for? Since I like making street and sportswear, I have this young, urban and effortlessly elegant woman in mind when designing.
