MANILA, Philippines - Bad boys weren’t in short supply during the ‘90s. In teenage movies, cookie-cutter alpha males were all the rage: Freddie Prinze Jr., James Van der Beek, even Leonardo DiCaprio. These were boys who lived in pin-ups and posters, their surnames a coveted piece of (imaginary) marital real estate amongst your friends. But of course, we secretly like boys who have a certain degree of badness. That guy who hated school, who wore his clothes like he didn’t really care but still looked devilishly smoldering. Yeah, Nick Carter was the most clean-cut among the Backstreet Boys but AJ Mclean did have an air of mystery around him. That’s what really draws you in the most: the mystique that he hides in every move that he makes.
