MANILA, Philippines - When one thinks of the Flores de Mayo, or the Flowers of May — a month-long religio-historical Philippine custom — some things instantly come to mind: blooms in abundance, of course, and the famous Santacruzan, a procession of the town’s most beautiful young ladies walking under canopies of flowers. The main reason for the month’s celebrations, however, is the Virgin Mother herself. This week, we’re celebrating Flores de Mayo the way only we can: Santa-cruisin’ in the finest blues and whites from some of our favorite local designers.
