A Sanrio Christmas at the North EDSA
MANILA, Philippines - Sanrio characters go back to the happiest mall this Christmas — SM City North EDSA.
At the Sanrio Christmas at the North, Hello Kitty takes her friends to fun holidays in London as The Block Atrium is transformed into a showcase of the historic and hip city.
Here, mallgoers can take a tour of iconic London landmarks: Buckingham Palace, the London Underground, the Big Ben or Elizabeth Tower as well as symbols of London lifestyles: the red telephone booth, the double-decker bus, a fish and chips restaurant, and a pastry shop.
A Christmas tree filled with ornaments and treats — it is said that it was Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert who brought the German Christmas tree tradition to the rest of the world — completes the theme.
During the launch, mallgoers welcomed Hello Kitty who came in with her royal guards. Honeybarn CEO Dexter Dy (Sanrio Licensing) also graced the event, which had other Sanrio characters Mimi White, Mary White, George White, Dear Daniel, My Melody, Keo Kero Keropi, Pochacco, Bad Badz Maru and Tippy Bear beside the London landmarks.
This brought lots of cheer to the audience, including kids from Child Haus, a temporary shelter for cancer patients and other diseases who come to Manila for treatment but have no place to stay. The Child Haus’ permanent home was donated by SM Prime Holdings president Has T. Sy.
London street-style was highlighted in a special fashion show presentation by Forever 21 with famous London attractions in the background.
