Fashion and inspiration abound at Ayala Center Cebu’s Style Origin
MANILA, Philippines - Rocking sexy beach waves and sun-kissed skin, the models of Ayala Center Cebu’s Style Origin demonstrated that not only are women of the Queen City of the South stylish, they’re also beautiful. Directed by industry veteran director Ariel Lozada and styled by celebrity stylist Noel Manapat, the show featured distinguished homegrown brands and renowned Cebuano designers, alongside established international brands. The show also exhibited a number of trends that Cebuanos can expect in the fashion-forward stores of Ayala Center Cebu in the coming months.
Collegiate cool
The bell signaling the start of the school year has rung, but you don’t need to sign the attendance sheet to rock this trend. From varsity jackets to plaid shirts tied around the waist to schoolgirl pleated skirts and oversized specs, fashion-wise, school’s in.
Cocktail chic
From show-stopping bodycon numbers to demure draped pieces, the sheer variety of cocktail dresses seen on the runway ensures that you will never have to repeat an outfit again, no matter how many event invitations come your way.
In transit
Jet-setting has never looked cooler (or more comfortable) in these LAX-ready ensembles. Pantsuits and overalls appear to be popular choices for women looking for style and conveniece, while comfy V-neck tees and sneakers are top picks for men.
Get a leg up
Famed for its beaches, the residents of Cebu just won’t do without a good pair of shorts. From tiny tailored shorts for women to large, printed board shorts for men, these styles can take you from the shore to the streets.
Shift dresses
From the looks of it, the ‘60s Mod trend is here to stay. Figure-flattering shift dresses are the easiest way to pay homage to the era of Twiggy and Andy Warhol without looking like you’re stuck in a time-warp.
Digital floral prints
Forget your mom’s shoulder-padded floral shirts from the ‘80s. Thanks to designers like Mary Katrantzou, floral prints now are more chic, vibrant and in some cases, a little dizzying. The larger the print, the bolder the statement.
Resortwear
Appropriate for pool-side parties or bonfire gatherings, maxi dresses are the equivalent of putting on your fancy pants at the beach. Depending on the setting, footwear is optional.
Headcase
Too much sun exposure will ruin the locks you spent hours highlighting in a salon. Protect it while still looking chic in your headgear of choice: newspaper boy caps, beanies, bonnets and fedoras all made an appearance on the runway, so take your pick.
