Celebrity sightings on the catwalk
MANILA, Philippines - The Saturday Style Origin gala featured high street local and international brands and was hosted by Kim Jones; the Sunday show was more family-friendly, with kids’ brands included in the lineup, and had a more youthful vibe. Hosted by Robi Domingo, last Sunday’s Style Origin was amped up with entertainment courtesy of an opening dance number by the Company of Ateneo Dancers and live runway music by the String Minstrels — even Starships by Nicki Minaj sounds infinitely less grating when played by an orchestra. Celebrities of varying popularity also walked down the ramp at TriNoma’s Activity Center: TV5 talent Josh Padilla, new Star Magic inductee Janella Salvador, Rocco Nacino, Julia Montes, Regine Velasquez (who walked with her son Nate Alcasid), and, recipient of the loudest and craziest screams from the crowd, Xian Lim. That’s one thing the north has to trump us all: with two of the country’s biggest TV stations in their territory, harnessing some star power is easy-peasy.
