MANILA, Philippines - Hooray for bespectacled girls everywhere because makeup guru Bobbi Brown has announced that she will be releasing a line of premium optical frames and sunglasses this spring 2014. “As a makeup artist, I have looked at women’s faces for over 20 years and believe that my beauty expertise will translate naturally into eyewear, identifying the best silhouettes and colors for a woman’s face shape, skin tone and lifestyle. This is a new, innovative approach to interpreting eyewear,†Brown told WWD. And this is also the perfect excuse to throw away perenially irritating contact lenses forever.
Back to school
We all know that disgraced designer John Galliano is making a comeback, thanks to Oscar Dela Renta... but were you aware that he is also heading back to school? No, this isn’t a case of the miseducation of John Galliano — he actually wants to teach. According to NYPost.com, Galliano would like take on a mentoring role and work with students one-on-one and even guest lecture on occasion. A source was quoted saying, “John is taking things slowly. He would like to do some teaching at a fashion school, more one on one with students rather than lecturing to a large group. He hopes to finalize a deal with a school soon. It may not even be in the US.†That’ll show everyone who insists that those who can’t do, teach.
Mommy style
Following her mother’s impossibly chic footsteps, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld told Vogue.co.uk that she will be launching an online style guide for new parents and mothers-to-be. Last May, the 32-year-old had a baby girl named Romy Nicole with her long-term boyfriend, model Robert Konjic. “There will be a glamorous and artistic vision at the center,†she added. “I came up with the idea this summer. I realised that there were lots of maternity and mother blogs, but none of them reflected my lifestyle and my tastes. And with my baby as a constant source of inspiration, I wanted to share my ideas with other parents or expecting parents,†she told the website. The site will go live in a few weeks.
