Fashion’s new power duos
Good things come to those in pairs.
While I know a few twins who would disagree, there are plenty who acknowledge the success that comes with being in a couple. In a recent New York Times story on the dwindling number of middle class residents in Manhattan thanks to increasingly exorbitant real estate costs, the author posited that only couples in relationships (and children of affluent origins) who can split the cost of a one-bedroom apartment can continue to meet the rising levy of market prices.
Even celebrity couples know the power of pairing up. Marry up and a celeb can easily transition from C- to A-list. Just ask Lamar Odom after meeting Khloe Kardashian. Or anyone who actually marries into the Kardashians. Or Kate Middleton. Now, nobody cares about Prince William and his receding hairline. He can faint in the middle of a red carpet photo call and the journalists will probably note the condition of Kate’s stilettos before they jot down the details of HRH’s concussion.
That’s how it works when it comes to power couples — the good ones always grab your attention. In the spirit of V-Day, I selected a few fashion power couples of my own. From classic pairings to cool new couples, these duos — like Mariah and Spanx — belong together.
