MANILA, Philippines - WearEveryday Manila, which launched last May, is an online fashion magazine that features readily available merchandise and translates trends into everyday wearable ensembles. The site recently launched their Ask a Stylist section, featuring Chelsey Tolentino, a Fil-Am blogger who has styled for Nordstrom. They’ve also featured fashion bloggers Camille Co, Vern Enciso, Cheyser Pedregosa, and Lissa Kahayon for their Style Stars section. The brands they regularly feature on the site include Forever 21, Folded & Hung, Jellybean, Wade, Mango, Topshop, Renegade Folk, and Ripcurl. Newly stocked items are pulled out from stores and uploaded on the site within a few days, so there’s a better chance of you nabbing that cute skirt or pair of shoes once they’re posted. For updates on what’s new, like WearEveryday Manila on Facebook (www.facebook.com/weareverydaymanila) and follow them on Twitter (@Weareveryday).
Rubbing elbows
Once again joining this year’s London Fashion Week is Manila’s favorite milliner and fashion designer, Mich Dulce. Her collection will be sharing the same catwalk as the collections of iconic Brit labels, such as Burberry Prorsum, Paul Smith, Mulberry, and the Vivienne Westwood Red Label, and famed Brit designers, like Christopher Kane, Matthew Williamson, and Mary Katrantzou. The Mich Dulce Label was first sold globally in 2009, with stock in Manila, Tokyo, London, Paris and Singapore. Her creations have since been spotted on the likes of Anna Dello Russo, editor at large of Vogue Nippon, and Leighton Meester on Gossip Girl.
Printing soon: CR Fashion Book
Former French Vogue editor in chief Carine Roitfeld unveiled the first full fashion spread from her upcoming biannual magazine, CR Fashion Book. Announced back in April of this year, the new image was shot by photographer Sebastian Faena and features model Juliet Ingleby walking in a cemetery in a billowy lavender veil and… a hairpiece? Dispelling rumors that her glossy would be competing with the all-mighty Vogue, she contended, “It’s time to find something new, something fresh — for me and for the readers… I find that some people in fashion are so blasé. Fashion has to be fun.” The maiden issue will hit stands on Sept. 13 during NY Fashion Week, after which our excitement will be turned towards Mademoiselle C, a documentary with “unprecedented access” to Carine’s life and the process of creating CR Fashion Book, directed by Fabien Constant.
All we want for Christmas is…
Alexander Wang introduced his latest It-bag, the Heroine, this week. The luxe croc incarnation, featured in the ad, retails for a cool $37,995, but if you’re on a budget, you can pick up the small black calfskin version for just $2,295! (BRB, #sobbing) Been itching to channel your inner androgynous Dorothy Gale (hey, you never know…)? One look at Miu Miu’s latest collection of glittery, tasseled loafers, and you’ll think, “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore…” Order them online at miumiu.com. Want a little apparel to go with those accessories? Check out Jason Wu’s lower-priced diffusion label, Miss Wu. The 40-piece collection (with prices ranging from $195 to $795) will hit Nordstrom in January. “Miss Wu is my personality. It was really fun to explore that facet of who I am — slightly more downtown, and with a more relaxed attitude,” says Wu. “The first two seasons are based solely on ready-to-wear. “By 2014, we plan to have accessories.” If nothing else interests you, perhaps a My Little Karl Lagerfeld Pony will.
Celebrity skin
If you’ve always wanted to star in a campaign for your designer label, but felt it was beyond your reach, don’t lose hope. Lanvin made news this week by casting models between the ages of 18-80 (yep, you read that right) for its latest campaign, such as 62-year-old Tziporah Salamon, fashion blogger Stella Rose, and 82-year-old former dancer Jackie Taja Murdock. Meanwhile, Isabella Rossellini posed for Annie Leibowitz in the new Bulgari ads to promote the Isabella Rosselini line for spring and fall, natch. The ads will run in the September issue of Vanity Fair. Speaking of famous faces posing for famous lens men, in case you haven’t heard, Karl Lagerfeld shot Victoria Beckham in the Chanel couture salons in Paris for the upcoming cover of French Elle.
