MANILA, Philippines - Cougars appear to be in on the secret.
Looking young has everything to do with acting young on the dermis level, at least.
In Switzerland, scientists discovered an apple tree with fruit that looked miraculously preserved despite its advancing age (much like the women on The Real Housewives franchise). The resulting studies produced apple stem cell extract, which signals old cells to behave like younger cells, leading them to preserve and extend their function.
“It makes skin act like it’s young,” says Dr. Patricia Farris, a dermatologist.
The 40-year-old’s answer to younger skin
Swiss apple stem cells are part of NeoStrata’s multi-ingredient approach to anti-aging. The skincare company’s latest line, Skin Active, delivers anti-aging benefits through a four-product regimen that includes retinol, neoglucosamine and maltobionic acid as well as apple stem cell extract.
“No single ingredient can answer all the needs of the skin,” says Farris. The potent Skin Actives line, which targets women 40 and above, is gentle but promises maximum results: reversing the signs of aging by smoothing and plumping deep lines and wrinkles, lifting and firming sagging skin and fading and evening out discoloration.
“The ingredients combine to work together in a synergistic way,” explains NeoStrata international business development VP Leigh Ann Caitlin. Synergy is achieved, according to Caitlin, when all four products (exfoliating wash, cellular restoration, matrix support and intensive eye therapy) are applied religiously as a regimen. Daily use means 35 percent of NeoStrata’s actives are delivered to the skin.
A recently-concluded study, presented by the NeoStrata team, showed that 20 weeks of regular use resulted in dramatically reduced skin pigmentation. “Participants (in the study) appeared three years younger on average and up to eight years younger in 16 weeks based on the clinician’s grading,” adds NeoStrata international marketing executive director Catherine Mueller.
