Len Nepomuceno takes a short break

The veteran designer of classic long evening wear tried something different with holiday dressing for her Fashion Watch collection. She went young and she went short, with swingy ’60s silhouettes that, for her, symbolized liberation. Leggy, shiny shifts textured with cutout shapes on taffeta echoed the kind of abbreviated party dresses we’ve been seeing a lot of. While Nepomuceno was aiming for freshness, the freshest look of the bunch was actually the sequined knee-length dress with a sheer skirt, whose intricate patterns seemed to be Art Deco-inspired. This could have been the new direction she wanted to take, as it stands out from the sea of ruffles and rosettes.
