A bold idea
Bally creative directors Graeme Fidler and Michael Herz plumbed the label’s extensive archives, which go as far back as the ’30s and ’50s, for their latest foray into accessories. In seeking retro inspiration, the duo’s efforts resulted in modern footwear, like metal-brushed gold detailing and interlaced leather on brogues, colored sharkskin sandals and color-blocked ballerina flats. Channeling the decades past, purses in canvas and sharkskin, like the Riviere which comes in grass, sunshine yellow, shark blue and red, are part architectural, part mod art pieces.
The label’s ready-to-wear collection harks to sportswear, pairing hardworking fabrics like linen with leather or cotton jersey. Bold coloreds like tangerine and lime for womenswear contrast against the muted tones of menswear pieces in navy and tan.
