New designer at the helm of Louis Vuitton menswear
MANILA, Philippines - After five years spent at the head of Louis Vuitton’s men ready-to-wear studio, under the artistic direction of Marc Jacobs since 1997, Paul Helbers takes back his freedom in order to realize new projects. During these five years, the menswear activity almost doubled and represents today an important pillar of Louis Vuitton’s men’s line. Yves Carcelle and Marc Jacobs thank Paul Helbers for his contribution to Louis Vuitton’s development.
Kim Jones is the new men’s RTW studio and style director under the artistic direction of Marc Jacobs. Kim Jones was previously creative director for Alfred Dunhill. Born in 1979 in London, Jones graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design MA menswear, and presented his first catwalk collection at London fashion week in 2003.
Alongside his own collections, he has designed and worked for a variety of companies, including Uniqlo, Mulberry, Alexander McQueen, Hugo Boss, Umbro and Topman. Jones has contributed both as stylist and art director for magazines such as Dazed and Confused, Arena Homme +, Another Magazine, The New York Times T magazine, 10 Men, V Men, i-D, Numero Homme and Fantastic Man. he has been awarded Menswear Designer of the Year by the British Fashion Council in 2006 and in 2009.
