YStyle premieres Femme Noir, a fashion film
MANILA, Philippines - To celebrate the Philippine STAR’s 25th anniversary, YStyle commissioned fashion filmmakers Midnight Bonkers, composed of Paolo Pineda, Dondi Narciso and Ejay Leung to create a film that features 11 women — all stylish and talented — wearing the latest beauty and fashion trends, particularly bold red lips, sculpted cheeks and the return of monochromatic black and white. Shot in Manila Hotel and given a film noir twist (hence the title), the film pans as a suspense-thriller that alternately chills the bone and catches the eye.
Premiered earlier this week at Whitespace, to industry insiders and fashion media, the glossy eight-minute film, cheekily given a French nouvelle soundtrack, is YStyle’s way of welcoming a new brand of fashion media: the moving fashion editorial. Also part of the event was an exhibit featuring elegant stills of each of the 11 girls, who were all present save for Marga Valdez who had previous engagements abroad.
Aside from the fashion cognoscenti, also partying with YStyle were Plains and Prints, whose new Rajo Laurel collection was also debuted this week; Samsung, which showed off the multi-function Samsung Galaxy tablet to guests and also awarded the gadget to the best-dressed girl and guy of the evening; and Century Properties, which presented their luscious new property Acqua Private Residence. Hennesy provided the nights poison — er, potion — for the night, mixing the smooth cognac with ginger ale and cranberry juice. Gaita Fores’ Cibo di M took charge of finger food, while her floral sculptures from Fiori di M took centerstage. Kameraworld, which enlarged the photos of each of the 11 girls were also there, as well as Mac, which provided the artists and the makeup for the film.
