MANILA, Philippines - Leave it to Mandy Santos, a consistent name on every best-dressed list in the country and loved for her original sense of humor, to create a children’s clothing line that literally is tongue in chic (I promised myself never to use that phrase but in this case it really is relevant).
Tarte Tatin is just so adorable that even I try my best to fit in their size 12s. All packed up in an Agent Provocateur-ish shopping bag, Mandy’s little girls stir up children’s parties like no other.
There are hymns to Lanvin, Balenciaga, Philip Lim and vintage styles. There is controversy stirring over some statement shirts that have heated up Facebook debates. “The words that I was emphasizing were beaded in sequins,” Mandy explains. The shirts that supposedly say “Don’t feed the models” are “really trying to say Feed the Models which are emphasized with beading.”
Worn by junior style setters, Tarte Tatin is more spice than sweet. Perfect for the pint-sized contrarian fashion bud. Noche Buena will never be the same.
Tarte Tatin is available at Greenbelt 5 and Rustan’s Department Stores. Mrs. Pixels is found on Level 3, Jumpstreet, Robinson’s Galleria (Tel. 775-2366). Checkout their website at www.mrspixels.com.
