MANILA, Philippines - “There are three numbers a woman can‘t reveal,” HSBC group communications and sustainability SVP Johanna Garcia says, “her age, weight and the number of shoes she owns.”
Shoes were the talk of the town last Tuesday, when HSBC launched their new promotion at Shangri-La Hotel, with shoe-lovers Raya Mananquil, Alexandra Rocha, Stacy Rodriguez, Rocio Olbes and Tessa Prieto-Valdes representing five eclectic styles.
To celebrate their partnership with Singaporean footwear label Charles & Keith, the banking company cobbled together a promotion that would speak to every Filipina.
“The HSBC Red MasterCard was the first credit card in the Philippines exclusively for women,” says HSBC Philippines president and CEO Tony Cripps. “The HSBC Red MasterCard understands what women value, and helps them achieve their goals and aspirations in life.”
“Filipinas love food, they love shopping and they love their shoes,” quipped HSBC head of personal financial services Ron Logan.
When applying for the HSBC Red MasterCard, new cardholders get three pairs of shoes from Charles & Keith worth P1,249 for free. Three vouchers are immediately provided. For every minimum expenditure of P3,000 using the Red Mastercard within a specified transaction period, a pair of shoes can be claimed at Charles & Keith. Just present the voucher together with charge slips dated within a specified transaction period.
“At HSBC, we’re always on the lookout for new and exciting deals for our customers,” says Ron Logan. “With this latest promo, new cardholders can look forward to enjoying three more pairs of shoes from Charles & Keith on us.”
The basics of the perfect shoe closet
Every girl needs a basic shoe.
For bag designer Rocio Olbes, it’s a gold platform heel. “I’m a sky-high heels kind of girl,“ says the designer garbed in a shiny blue dress and stacked platforms. “Every girl needs a super high heel in her closet.”
For Alexandra Rocha, it’s a ballet flat. “I love heels but they have to be comfortable,” the ice cream maker says. “Otherwise, I pretty much live in ballet flats.”
Talk radio host Raya Mananquil and designer Stacy Rodriguez, attired in somber black, waxed rhapsodic about the power of statement shoes.
Says Rodriguez, wearing a pair of strappy heels, “Shoes can make or break an outfit.”
