I’m talking about those two hairy crests above our eyes that literally frame the face. A minor tweak can make you look 10 years younger. A heavy hand can lead you to Chola-ville in no time. It is the ultimate expression of who you are.
In high school my classmates zealously plucked theirs, mostly out of boredom. It was also the ‘90s so you can imagine the wormlike brows they fashioned for themselves (along with lips lined in Spice lip liner by MAC). I kept mine the same way mainly because I was too lazy.

Then comes step two. My eyebrows get tinted. I’m the kind of girl that doesn’t know her real hair color. So they tinted my brows to coordinate with my treated locks. I didn’t really think this would make a difference. Of course when all was done, and when the curtains match the blinds, the result is a glowing complexion that warms the skin and evens out the shadows in the face. It has an amazing effect akin to a concealer.
The last step is my favorite as I’ve had it done before: the lash perm. Yes, it seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen but it actually uses a gentle formula that I fall asleep again for all of the 40 minutes it takes to set the lashes. As much I love my Shu Uemura eyelash curler, my stubborn lashes droop down in an hour despite the efforts of any willing mascara.
This curled lash treatment instantly wakes up my eyes. I have nothing against makeup. In fact I have a drawer full of products and no one is allowed to touch them. However, there are just those mornings that I’d rather sleep than lose an extra seven minutes doing my eyes. Also I’d like to have a more natural option when I do Pilates and I don’t want to scare people.
