Inheriting a sense of style from Mom, these kids play dress-up every day
There’s plenty to celebrate about Mother’s Day. Though we’re big believers in giving the main woman in your life special treatment every single day, this coming holiday we’d like to pay tribute to the kind of mom who encourages her kids to have their own sense of style. Not the sort of mom who’d force you to wear a prim wool dress to your sibling’s graduation in the middle of March just so you’ll match her Chanel suit, but the kind who provides her kid with a sense of self and a willingness to try everything, even if it involves pearls, a superhero cape and boots.
YStyle put the focus on three different young moms and the style of their charmingly-dressed offspring.
Erica Paredes

Daughter: Ananda Paredes, five years old, turning six in a month
With a pair of Wayfarers perched on her precocious head, Ananda is all about the accessories: the butterfly wings, rhinestone tiara or fur-covered wand. More likely to slip into a pair of boots and a bedazzled top, she’s mastered the art of the playful ensemble — never solely saccharine or twee, she’s got a little rock ‘n’ roll vibe to counter the cute.

Daughter: Francesca Gioskos, 10 years old
Garbed in ballet flats and a sweet ruffled dress, Francesca is part preppy kid, part modern-day princess. There’s something other-worldly about a 10-year-old who adores knitting and adorns her hair with barrettes.
Mai Kauffman
Interior designer and owner of Karma
Daughter: Alexa Isobel Kauffman, a year and eight months old
Though she hasn’t even set foot in kindergarten, Alexa’s already been walking the runway at kiddie fashion shows. This glam kid, who wears sequin-covered ball skirts, is already a veteran of designer clothing — her mother, Mai, designs her adorable apparel.
