MANILA, Philippines - Coco Martin, whose boyish looks, handsome grin and often shy demeanor sent thousands of girls, boys and everything in between giggling and fantasizing because of his Pinoy charm and masculine sex appeal, is Wade’s first celebrity endorser. Heralded as the king of local indie films, Coco successfully made the transition into more dramatic, even charismatic and/or character roles — making him one of the country’s most versatile actors and one of the few worth watching.
That kind of versatility led to an eventual endorsement with Wade. “Coco’s one of the hottest males we have now, and his machismo, sensuality and acting talent are the kind that appeal to the masses. We wanted to reach that kind of market, successfully and hopefully through Coco. Even his eyes speak a thousand words,” says Bogs Lee, Wade owner.
For men, Wade launches casual shoes that are both stylish and great enough on a long summer holiday cruise. Loafers and slip-on flats in either suede or leather get rehashed with checkered details, stripes, lace-ups and some other nautical elements in navy blue, white, gray or black. On the other hand, Coco opts for the hipper shoe types with sneakers (high- or low-cut) in patent leather, canvas, with colored striped appliqués or with metallic trims. Even backpacks and sling-on bags turn nautical in design.
For the ladies, wedges — chunky or low — make their comeback in a big way, this time, with native touches in espadrille types, wooden or interlace-detailed heels. Other shoes come in floral flats, strappy sandals, faux denim slingbacks and even wooden high-heeled peeptoes. Finish off with a huge quilted tote or a patent shoulder bag; put on a pair of dangling earrings and an armful of bangles, and, oh baby, you’re ready to cruise!
