Passport to global style
MANILA, Philippines - The spring-summer runways were chock-full of travel references, as though designers were in the mood to jet off from their dreary showrooms to some tropical getaway. Missoni layered thin knits and scarves over floaty dresses, preparing their models for a dusty Moroccan interlude. British label Ashish offered cheeky roadtrip-worthy pieces like map-covered slouchy frocks and a sequin tank declaring “I get around.” Paul Smith threw in a few African elements, while Eley Kishimoto sent out quirky-colorful ensembles that appear to draw inspiration from Wes Anderson films. Prada didn’t mess around and splashed images of beach getaways on separates, like cropped jackets, shorts and shift dresses.
To get away, these days, all you need is a wardrobe update and some imagination. — Bea J. Ledesma
