MANILA, Philippines - If you’re expecting to lock lips during the biggest, most commercialized event of the year, then it’s time to try on some lipsmackingly cute new lip colors. Red isn’t the only key color for the day of hearts. Exit that comfort zone you like to call your lipstick collection and try out these pretty new hues.

Clockwork orange

The surprisingly wearable hue, which made an appearance on the spring-summer runways of Prada (tangerine lips), Balenciaga (traffic cone-colored peepers) and Louis Vuitton (citrus-hued cheekbones), meets its match with MAC’s Morange A98 lipstick. Complement it with Orly’s summery Chica Boom nail lacquer.

Purple heart

My prose isn’t the only purple thing worth a second look. Test drive Shiseido’s creamy lipstick in RS 320 for a burst of color that skews more Pretty in Pink than Purple Rain. Go wild with Orly’s purple polish Charged Up inspired by Rihanna.

Pink’s not dead

This isn’t new territory by any means but Shu Uemura freshens up the typical pink with a bold hue in PK336 that’s sure to turn heads. Finish with Chanel nail polish in a charming pink hue called Vanity.

Well red

’Tis the season to wear red. It is Valentine’s Day, after all. If you’re going for cliché, then embrace the notion and go full-force tai-tai red. MAC’s Ruby Woo A39 is a matte lip lacquer that has a deep, red velvety texture and doesn’t rub off after a long luscious V-Day dinner or some old-school necking. Take on your tips with Orly in Haute Red.
