What will you wear in 2010?

At the recent P&G Beautisphere event held at the breathtakingly beautiful Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Indonesia (www.fourseasons.com/bali), journalists from all over the Asia-Pacific were treated to an overview of the exciting things in store in beauty, grooming and fashion for 2010. Will rock and roll still be as prevalent as it is now in fashion and beauty? Will bold lips still prevail? P&G Trends Expert, Vassiliki Petrou, shared some of the top trends for spring/summer 2010. “Trends for P&G are a synthesis of multiple forces like socio-cultural trends, design, architecture, science, beauty, and grooming,” shares Vassiliki. It seems that for this coming year, a recent trend of fashion following the economic climate will prevail (versus that of years before when fashion and beauty were made to be an escape). There is a seamless blending of being true to oneself and at the same time, being conscious of the world around you.

Techno romance

Techno Romance is all about a modern love story. As in most romantic trends, the colors are pastels but this time with a shine courtesy of sheer metallics. There is a melding of traditional, romantic elements and color application breakthroughs. Baby pinks and lavenders take on a hi-tech element. Fashion is at the same time sweet and modern.

Key colors:  Nude, gray, lavender, gold and rose

Simply soft

A coming back to the essentials and simplifying, this trend is all about not just simple aesthetics but also well-being. It’s about a warm, reassuring world filled with sunshine and purpose. There is an overall easy elegance to the sheer layers and fluid shapes as elements are deliberately simplified.

Key colors: Bright yellow, lilac, purple and gray

Ruffles truffles

Luxe and rich without being vulgar, this trend is all about understated elegance and the reinvention of luxury. Punctuated by deep browns and deep wine hues, this is all about "less-travagance" — editing your life and just sticking to a few well-chosen, exceptional things.

Key colors: Chocolate brown, mocha, berry hues, dusty rose

Nomad couture

A mysterious and compelling trend, this forecast is all about a world traveler who is deeply influenced by the different cultures and flavors that she encounters. The dominant tones are deep blues and purples. Different patterns and prints from all cultures are brought together to come up with a glamorous persona that is at the same time very personal, yet influenced by the world.

Key colors: Purple, yellow, red, blue, and fuchsia

Savvy brandy

The male version of Ruffles Truffles, this is all about the worldly man who enjoys the good things in life but is never vulgar with his choices. The look is modern and sleek with unmistakable high-quality and design.

Key Colors: Olive green, black, mocha, bone, and chocolate brown

Urban pulse

The vibe is urban, fast-paced, and casual. There is a strong sense of mobility and youth with clean lines and a neutral palette spiked with bold accent colors. The look is very modern and fresh.

Key colors: Orange, gray, green, sky blue, gray, and pink
