Report: Brazilian Fashion Week
MANILA, Philippines - It may not really be the forefront of the Fashion Week coterie but you can be assured there’s going to be a lot of color. Here are Brazilian Fashion Week’s misses and its one hit.
Claudia Simoes: In what could be a pedantic spin-off of couture pieces from Louis Vuitton, Prada and Lanvin, this is what Avenue Montaigne looks like in Brazil. What it lacks in originality, it makes up for in wearability. Claudia Simoes deftly translates the high-concept catwalk looks from the more major fashion capitals in the world into an every woman’s sort of wardrobe. I’m confused on why I actually don’t hate it so much.
Maria Bonita Extra: If this is what the Brazilian Lolita looks like, then I’m here for the taking! The cute but not saccharine pieces from this line give a portrait of the ultimate Brazweetheart. Mixing texture upon texture and juxtaposing interesting color combinations, the line somehow creates a warm emotion on its own.
Tng: I have no words for this catastrophe….kind ones, that is! There are too many derivatives and trend clichés. That’s it, I’m not saying anything more! —-CRL
