Face painting
MANILA, Philippines - MAC took the term makeup artist to heart, soliciting painter Richard Philips — along with illustrator Maira Kalman and photographer Marilyn Minter — to create limited-edition collections for the makeup label.
Working under the concept of makeup as art, Philips’ bold, dramatic and heroic use of color makes for a captivating palette.
Here, the painter recreated one of his more iconic images, utilizing his color collection for MAC. Brazen reds and cheeky purples meld together for a look that’s striking and a little daring.
Wallflowers clearly don’t do it for Philips. He likes to fill his canvas with women adventurous enough to strike out of their comfort zone of nudes and pale hues.
After all, if you’re going to paint the town red, you might as well do it in style. — Bea Ledesma
