DIY project: Update a gray T-shirt
MANILA, Philippines - We all strive to be individual and unique when it comes to fashion. Yet how do we achieve this when there’s nowhere else to shop but mass-market high-street brands? People tend do dress similarly and the chances of running into someone with the same shirt/outfit is always high. Why go through the perils or running into a clone if you can own one-of-a-kind pieces that are uniquely you?
Ace menswear designer Joey Samson shows YStyle two DIY projects to warp your plain tee into something spiffy.
First way
You’ve had this shirt forever, and you actually do not know why you don’t get rid of it — even if it doesn’t fit you anymore or it looks like something from a rave party. For whatever reason, you just cannot part with it. Joey shows us a nice way to be able to wear it.
Cut off the collar and the placket of the old shirt (up to the fifth or sixth button) and sew it onto the T-shirt .
Finished product
Your snazzy new shirt will definitely create a ruckus at your next barkada inuman.
Second way
Sew in a tuxedo bib from an old tuxedo shirt.
Cut off your tuxedo bib from your old tuxedo shirt or make your own bib from any old button-down.
Bore buttonholes into the bib and place bib on top of the T-shirt. Mark the T-shirt where buttonholes are going to go. Sew buttons on the markings. Button the bib onto the T-shirt.
Finished product
Benjamin Button: Wear the tee two ways — with the bib or just the buttons. Either way, you’ll look dapper.
