DIY Project: Distressed-print tee
T-shirts with silly slogans and cheeky statements are so 2008! Now, we let the prints do the talking. For something a bit more personalized, a DIY tee is never a difficult undertaking. This time, however, skip the messy silk screen and textile paints and work with a different set of art materials, one that's completely at hand. Who knew that laundry bleach can actually promote artistry?
Materials
A dark-colored tee
Cut-out shapes of your choice
Found objects (chain, keys, safety pins, etc)
Spray bottle with water and bleach
Procedure
1. Strategically place your cutouts or found objects on your tee. Make sure they’re flat on the fabric
2. Spray the area with the water and bleach.
3. Wait a few minutes to let the bleach take effect.
4. Remove the objects/cutouts and you now have a funky tee with a design uniquely your own!
*Tip: You can also do this to plain-colored dresses, skirts and pants. Make sure to decorate the back part of the garment as well.
