MANILA, Philippines - When images from Tim Burton’s latest hypersurrealist fare, Alice in Wonderland, reimagined with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, emerged online, there was a flurry of attention over the Lewis Carroll classic. Wonderland must be in the air. Spanish designer Josep Font, who presented his fall-winter 2009/10 haute couture collection at Paris Fashion Week, seemed to have gotten drunk on Carroll’s characters. Ostentatious headdresses, fanciful frocks and whimsical footwear lent the show a playful air that put it firmly in the world of Alice and friends. — BL
