Flower to the people
Fresh spring florals and bold hues are primed for a return — if only to combat the dreary bipolar weather. Heat-resistant dresses like Kashieca’s airy polka dot frock, which looks lovely on its own paired with trim gladiator sandals or layered with a T-shirt and finished with platforms, make for perfect weekender uniforms that’ll work whether the sun is shining or not. Bayo’s watercolor florals make an upscale statement with an easy sensibility. Their white shift dress makes a tasteful dress for Sunday lunch with the folks or a good dress to work the museum-café circuit with friends on a random weekday.
Thanks to Kate Moss, liberty prints are experiencing a renaissance. The tiny floral print looks cool and casual — nothing about them says stuffy or pretentious, which is a common misconception most people have about wearing florals. Either that or looking like a Laura Ashley mannequin.
HerBench’s take on the trend is to print warm colors, ranging from amber to orange, that resemble budding flora and fauna but in surreal, techno patterns on a T-shirt. At the shoot, most of the crew found themselves ooohing and aaahing over the piece, especially when they noticed the price tag (it costs a cool P300+).
There’s a rash of quirky items that have the perfect upbeat vibe ideal for wearing during the weekends. So upbeat, in fact, that they could probably perk up a Monday.
And that’s certainly no easy feat.
