The secret to eternal youth, sadly, is neither fillers nor Botox. It’s quite simple yet complex to achieve: luminous skin. A healthy lifestyle, sun protection and good skincare habits are key, but if all else fails, resort to the magic of makeup.
Lush lashes
Thick lashes have actually become more of a classic than a trend. And who wouldn’t want those come-hither glances? First, curl lashes from the base to the tips and follow with doses of mascara. (Tip: wiggle the wand from the roots, working it slowly towards the tips for huge, dramatic eyes.)
Thick and groomed brows
Pencil-thin arches belong to the anorexic era of the ‘90s. If you suffer from this, muster strength not to touch them with tweezers, blades or even scissors (which many use to trim longer brows). Fill them up with brow powder (less severe than pencils) in light, feathery strokes. Brush up to blend.
Extended liner
Cleopatra created this look and it has since become associated with Hollywood sex kittens of the ‘60s. Now, the liner is not as thick as it used to be, as it is lined right at the base of the lashes. To get this look, extend the line outwards and upwards for the ultimate sexy peepers.
Coral blush
The spring/summer runways are filled with models sporting this most alluring combination of pink and orange, made to be universally flattering. Don’t go trigger happy on the application, though — you could look like you’re burning with fever.
Rosy lips
This is a subtler version of the more severe classic red, and it instantly brightens up the complexion. If you have a small mouth, line the outside of your lips with nude liner and fill in with color. The best way to wear this, however, is not to swipe onto the lips straight from the tube; use your ring finger to create a soft stain and create the illusion of naturally rosy lips.
Gold eyeshadow
This is best worn by those who sport a healthy, golden tan. A light golden wash on the lids enhances the eyes and makes the eyes look lighter. (Tip: line eyes with dark green liner to see full effect.)
