Hello, my name is Lucca

Designer Mario Barrientos likes to recall the halcyon days of power dressing — the era of bold shoulders and even bolder style. Barrientos is the man behind Lucca, the in-house line of The Ramp at Crossings, not to be mistaken for Luca, which holds court at Archeology at Power Plant Mall.

“My inspiration for this season is all about architecture,” notes Barrientos. “Think structural lines.” That means lots of corporate-friendly pieces like high-waist pencil skirts and paper bag trousers. Once the clock hits five, the high-powered executive can slip off the constraints of office wear and slip into one of Lucca’s stylish dresses, whether it’s the asymmetrical dress with the puff sleeve or ladylike frock with tiered skirt in champagne.

For summer, Barrientos’ must-have items include high-waist shorts, halter tops and jumpsuits. Even head honchos like to let loose during the warmer months.
