A kaleidescope world

- JR Isaac -

No, it’s not a country awards show. Many, many plaid outfits, yes, but the ladies looked far from country. They looked rocking hot as they added a new twist to the usual plaid outfit. They made use of leggings, fishnet stockings and killer shoes to vamp up their outfits. They also made use of modern accessories to create a “now” look to this trendy print.

Meg magazine, together with Nokia, celebrated a decade of style and sisterhood with a fashion-forward theme, back-to-back rock bands and DJ entertainment. It was a music-filled bash that welcomed a huge crowd comprised of Meg readers and some of today’s biggest stars.

Geared towards molding smart, confident and fashionable young women, Meg — the country’s first homegrown teen fashion and lifestyle magazine — invited all its loyal style sisters to dress in their most rockin’ glam garb and troop to Club Ascend in Bonifacio High Street. Upon entering the venue, partygoers got the chance to strike their punkiest poses for the cameras and leave their messages on the photowall.

Kim Reyes

Kim wears a halter dress by Ronaldo Arnaldo with black tights (good finds from a department store), black bangles from Girl Shoppe, two-toned heels from Charles & Keith and a patent bag from Chocolate Clothing. She wanted the plaid print to stand out so shekept her kept her accessories to a minimum. Makeup artist Jigs Mayuga gave her dark lips and defined eye makeup for a glam punk look.

Pipay Reyes

Pipay wears a plaid tube dress designed by Isa Alvarez of Make Love Not War. She wanted a subtle plaid that is "not too grungy with a twist of Marc Jacob", then loaded it up with chunky silver chains from Mango and a clutch in contrasting red plaid from Ishq.

Denise Flojo

Denise wears a jacket from H&M, a top by Proud Race, pants by April77, pumps from Singapore and a Prada bag. The graphic designer looks to Balmain’s fall 08-09 collections for inspiration.

Michi Ancheta

Michi wears a dress from Blue Navy, stockings from her own collections, a belt from her father and suede boots from Centropelle. She refers to the look as "rebellious ‘90s grunge."

Maris Mortel

Maris wears a plaid vest by Mimi and a short denim playsuit by Folded & Hung with black tights and ankle boots by Le Donne. Her fashion pegs are the Brit “it” girls like Agyness Deyn and Pixie Geldof.

Peewee Reyes

Peewee Reyes wears a plaid tube dress and black gladiators from Zara with a huge silver ring from Cru. Peewee is the editor-in-chief of Meg magazine.

It was an easy, breezy night as the ladies partied the night away at The Tides. They wore very comfortable printed dresses, both short and long. All were designed in cool and light fabrics so they could move with the cool sea winds. The ladies sported minimal to no accessories for a fuss-free evening. Small totes were carried around to store their essentials.

As the season of merriment approaches, the party has already started at the Tides Hotel Boracay, which recently celebrated its first anniversary. It’s been a busy year for Boracay’s most stylish hotel, with a slew of successful promos and numerous events. The celebration night was filled with fun, good food, good music and, of course, good company. This anniversary was made extra special as it hosted a beach clean-up effort along Station 2 in cooperation with Mayor Ciceron Cawaling who continues to adhere to an advocacy of protecting Boracay.

Erica Paredes

Metro beauty editor Erica wears a maxi dress that she got from a shop in Sydney. Her wood and nacre necklace are vintage and belong to her mother. She wears simple white thong sandals to go with the black and white theme and carried a silver clutch for some sparkle.

Bunny Atayde

Bunny dons a dress from Singapore, slippers from Old Navy and accessories and a bag from Bangkok.

Cat Arambulo

Cat dons a Tan Tease dress, Havaianas slippers and diamond stud earrings.

Bianca Salonga

Bianca wears a multi-colored printed tube dress by Kenzo. Her accessories are a pair of turquoise drop earrings, a red clutch and a gold flip-flops. The look laid-back yet very playful.

Mela De Luna

Mela wears a long shirt from Bleach Catastrophe and accessorizes it with a leather belt from Topshop. White strappy sandals from VNC complete her easy and boho get-up for the beach.

Vanessa Ledesma

Vanessa wears a scarf dress with Pucci sandals; her only accessory is her six-months-pregnant belly.

It was an afternoon of straight lines and curly waves as Sunsilk launched its latest Sunsilk Style Collection, which was made to help women with straight or curly hair achieve that perfect style in a snap. London’s acclaimed “People’s Hairdresser” Andrew Barton flew in for the event to share the inside story on the product range which he helped develop within a three-year period.

Lines and curves weren’t the only shapes seen on hair — it was also on the dresses they wore, which ranged from florals and geometrics to fun and frisky prints.

Nicole Jacinto

Nicole wears a dress that she borrowed from her sister’s closet, shoes from Zara, and a bag from Charles & Keith.

Crissy Miguel

Crissy’s printed ensemble was all about fun and comfort. She got her black and white dress from The Ramp at Crossings and wears it with yellow wedges from Sydney and a Louis Vuitton Speedy. It only takes Crissy 10 minutes to style her hair. She uses Sunsilk Defining Mousse to make it curly and Sunsilk Weight & Sway Cream for when she blow-dries it straight.

Gutzee Seguera

Gutzee’s style inspiration was the beach so she wore something breezy and light. She got her dress from Cacharel while her shoes are from Stella Luna. Sunsilk’s assistant brand manager achieves style in a snap by lightly curling the ends of her hair for natural-looking, wind-blown waves. A small amount of Sunsilk Curls & Waves Bounce mousse keeps her hair wavy all day long.

Stef Cabal

You editor-in-chief Stef wears a skirt by Louis Claparols with a top and black blazer from Topshop. She accessorized with a necklace from Tint, shoes from Stella Luna, and a bag from Louis Vuitton.

Leanne Jacinto

Leanne is a no-fuss kind of person who lets her properly brushed hair hang loose. At the event, she wore a red dress from Cole Vintage. She got her bag from Charles & Keith.
