Yellow Cab’s flavored drum & thigh is your new juicy obsession.
MANILA, Philippines — It doesn’t take a chef to know that deep frying a bird is probably going to be a good idea. Yes, I paraphrased that from an episode of Ugly Delicious, but that also tells the truth on why every culture has their take on a fried chicken. But you know what’s better than that? Flavored fried chicken. I’m all for a good basket of wings, but imagine this: all those flavor choices but on big juicy pieces of drum and thigh. A glorious concept — that is until Yellow Cab stepped up their chicken game with the launch of the Drum & Thigh in six explosive flavors.
What’s a pizza joint got to do with it? Well, we all know that pizza night is nothing without chicken and beer. So on your next barkada HOHOL, have some Sriracha drum and thigh to go with any pizza of your choice. Loving a good sauce is one thing, but this chicken comes coated with Sriracha powder — lots of it. If you want to take the spicy chicken challenge (yes, we went there) to the next level, order your drum and thigh with the hot chix flavor instead. Classic flavors like Salt & Pepper and Garlic Parmesan are always a good choice. But something sweet and tangy like Yellow Cab’s Korean BBQ or something smoky and sweet like New York BBQ drum and thigh might just be up your alley. Told you: different cultures, different flavors, same chicken goodness.
But the best part of all of this is really all that extra lovin’ for the drum and thigh part. Original and spicy just won’t cut it anymore for our developing taste buds and our fave juicy chicken parts are just too good to be left behind by the popular wing. Also, just think of all that time spent less on dealing with bones and more on simply enjoying good meat.
David Simon of The Wire said it best on that fried chicken episode of Ugly Delicious: “I’ve never put chicken into my mouth and said, ‘This was a leap.’” Clearly, any chicken innovation is exciting, but Yellow Cab’s flavored drum and thigh might just be our new juicy obsession. Now, just imagine if it comes in a bucket serving of 8… Maybe with some dip? Don’t even get us started on playing with different pizza and chicken flavor pairings. The possibilities are literally endless. Gotta love food, man.
