MANILA, Philippines - It’s that time of the year again. We look back on how tough the past 12 months have been — but this time, it really feels like we can’t be disappointed any more than we are now. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing worth celebrating. We’ve heard the voices of empowered millennials both online and on the streets. They stand up for what they believe in, even if it means arguing with their families. This year, we’ve also allowed competent and inspiring women and transwomen to be elected into power. LGBT issues are gaining more awareness and the rules of adulting are being redefined. Even in our own simple ways, we’ve managed to surprise ourselves, pushing boundaries — whether it be social, political, gender, or even personal — that we’ve only ever hoped for before. I guess that’s what happens during times of adversity; we become a stronger version of ourselves. The fight is far from over but if there’s a silver lining, it’s the fact the youth is shookt, woke, and shining brighter than ever.
As we count down to the end of 2016, we celebrate the year of going bold. Still debating on the theme of your barkada’s Christmas party? Go for something brave and sparkly. From gold leaves on your lids to glitter on the lips, here are daring beauty looks to match your inner spark. For simpler days, a light, glowy skin finish with accentuated eyes might just do the trick. If you’re feeling extra flashy (it’s okay, you’ve earned it), you might want to try an electric metallic blue lippie. Makeup is an art form that’s all about expressing yourself and nothing can stop millennials like 19-year-old Justin Llarena from showing their true colors. Y’know what they say, once you go bold, you never go back.
