Jessica Jones
MANILA, Philippines – Yes, it’s based on a superhero comic book but don’t you dare show this to your little sibling. Starring Kristen Ritter who absolutely nails the titular Jessica Jones and gives us the most realized superhero yet on screen, while David Tennant takes his darkest turn yet as the villain Kilgrave providing a far-too-real and familiar menace. If you’re tired of the usual superhero fare, Jessica Jones is the punch in the gut you’ve been looking for. —Jonty Cruz

Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl
Bollywood has finally arrived in Manila! Well, a few movies at least. While we’re still waiting for our Hindi faves (Three Idiots, anyone?), why not widen your horizons and try something more romcom? Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl is exactly like John Tucker Must Die with the scheming ladies and shady (but cute) guys. It’s the perfect movie for Netflix and chill because it runs for about three hours. It’s fun, it’s light, and it will probably make you want to go to India for a vacation. –– Maine Manalansan
Magic School Bus
Where CGI dominates most Disney Channel shows these days (Gen Z, you are missing out!), there was a time when 2D masterpieces like Arthur, Babar, Berenstein Bears and Magic School Bus reigned supreme. Trippy, educational, and the epitome of ’90s throwback, we’re happy that our favorite school bus is once again waxing its wheels for a new generation to be able to experience the “trip” in field trip. –– Toff de Venecia
