Maine Manalansan - The Philippine Star

Release your inner stylist and relive your childhood arts and craft glory days with some limited-edition paper dolls of your favorite celebrities.

MANILA, Philippines - Admit it. There may have been one point in your life when you shamelessly danced Mambo No. 5 in front of your titas during the family Christmas reunion. Or perhaps you styled your hair à la Justin Timberlake’s dried noodles hairstyle in his ‘N Sync days just to be one step closer to your idol’s pop star status. But the truth is looking like a celebrity and being a star in your relatives’ eyes are different from actually being one.

The question still stands: How does one become famous? The most common route right now is to create a viral video on YouTube or Vine. You can sing, showcase your most bizarre talent or just be insanely funny. The key to creating a viral video is to be different. Don’t do anything that has been done before. If you have a cute cat, don’t forget to include him in one of your videos. People love cats. That would gain you at least a hundred new followers.

The second option is take workshops and hone your craft. Start from the bottom and go to every audition you can. There will be a couple of rejections at first but turn them into opportunities. After all, stars shine the brightest at the darkest times.

Getting to that sought-after celebrity fame will take you awhile. For the meantime, take these paper doll versions of teenage stars of Talk Back and You’re Dead fame Nadine Lustre and James Reid and our favorite cutie Ryzza Mae as inspiration. Cut ’em out, dress ’em up, and put ’em in your pocket for good luck. Who knows, you might become just like them someday.
