Booked for the weekend

MANILA, Philippines - We are of the opinion that these are the most hardcore ways to spend one’s free time: reading books and making art. (We’re badasses, what can we say?) Of course, doing these requires the necessary gear, so we scoured Fully Booked’s welcoming shelves and extensive art section. From calligraphy pens—a bandwagon we are only too happy to ride—to books for some inspiration, we’d like to think that we’ve found a couple of things that’ll get anyone’s creative juices flowing.

Sure, it’s a little intimidating (and quite frankly, time-consuming) to pick up a brush and get crackin’. There’s nothing more nerve-wracking than the sight of a blank piece of paper, waiting for that first stroke of genius. But Canadian athlete Wayne Gretzky did say that we “miss 100 percent of the shots (we) don’t take.” Perhaps he was talking about hockey, but we’d like to think he wouldn’t mind it being said about creativity as well. — Margarita Buenaventura
