Love is the drug
MANILA, Philippines - Love, particularly young love, can be the greatest vice of all.
Few things are as potent and all-consuming—the ability of adolescent infatuation to build into a dizzying crescendo out of even the most innocuous of gestures.
It could be the slight brushing of skin during the loaning of a chewed-up Stabilo pen in class; the rewarding of laughter over a terse ice-breaker at a party; or even the simple act of getting notified that your neon-haired crush has just followed you back on Twitter — which, as it turns out, is exactly how our models-for-a-day Idris “Eyedress†Vicuña and Maya Kibbel came to be, well, Idris and Maya.
Idris, on his part, took notice when the Tokyo-based teenager began popping up in his friends’ news feeds, modeling for their accessory lines and posing with wads of peso bills in her tattooed hands. He quickly struck up an online connection with the half-Japanese photographer, pursuing her initially to star in one of his music videos. Fast forward to one Maya-inspired song (http://soundcloud.com/eyedress/i-wanna-teleport-to-you) and countless hours of Twitter-Skype-Facebook rotation later, the two finally made the decision to meet one another not-quite-halfway in Singapore. The rest, as they say, is history (albeit one with a particularly heavy online paper trail).
Now with Maya visiting Idris in Manila, the two plan to spend the rest of their short time together eating Jollibee, making out, and maybe exploring a mountain or two.
As Maya so sweetly puts it, “Our relationship is creepy.â€
